The Royal Oak Hotel - Cardiff
History

It is believed that the Royal Oak started out as a coaching inn catering for those traveling on what is now the A48 to and from the town of Cardiff. Cardiff only became a City in 1906 and the Capital City in 1956.

The previous licensee, the legendary Kitty Burns moved in from the Duke of Edingburgh in 1946 retiring in 2003. Her Father won 4 caps playing rugby for Wales and was the 1st cousin of Peerless Jim Driscoll and until recently there was a boxing gym upstairs.

The pub was also used as the headquarters for the Roath (Cardiff) Harriers and at a meeting here in 1896 the Welsh Cross Country Association was formed.
