The previous licensee, the legendary Kitty Burns moved in from the Duke of Edingburgh in 1946 retiring in 2003. Her Father won 4 caps playing rugby for Wales and was the 1st cousin of Peerless Jim Driscoll and until recently there was a boxing gym upstairs.
The pub was also used as the headquarters for the Roath (Cardiff) Harriers and at a meeting here in 1896 the Welsh Cross Country Association was formed. |
