Talkin' Blues

January 2005 saw Ken being responsible for the birth of ‘Talkin’ Blues’ and after many, many telephone conversations with ‘wannabe’s’ and ‘couldn’t-possibly-in-a-thousand-year he’s’ finally received the calls from the real deal guys, and the band was formed!

It really did seem to be either coincidence or fate, whatever your opinion, that this set-up was going to work, and it sure has. From the first day this embrionic set-up in Dave’s carpet shop in Canton (free ad for you Dave!) there seemed to be an understanding, even though they replaced one member a few months back, things are still the same.

Londoner Dave’s long history of playing from Rock/blues bands at home and abroad to Holiday camp summer seasons and the club circuit  meant that the band enjoys a fantastic foundation from which to build a solid rhythm section.

First to appear was Ken (M), another Londoner, with his definitive idea of the type of Blues he thought we should play, which has turned out to be more or less perfect. If you have seen the band you will have realised that it’s not the same old covers that are churned out by many other so-called Blues bands, but a good mix of classic, but seldom heard songs. Ken has a vast experience as a guitarist and has played with many top class and well-known artistes.

After Ken the band managed to add Pete Cotteridge, harp player and vocalist with a long past of Blues music behind him. However something was not quite right and Pete was replaced a few months later

Then came Bob, another Londoner, and a great addition to any band. Drumming like his was founded in the Jazz/Rock circuit and even though his background lies firmly in the Rock scene, he has adapted amazingly considering the total change he has had to make to his style of playing.

Lastly, but certainly not least the arrival of Brian (thankfully another Welshman says Ken R!) harp player and vocalist, completed the line up, and his addition reduced the average age by a decade! Certainly an accomplished Blues harp man with a cool attitude to his vocals. Has previously fronted many bands, which show in his performances with Talkin’  Blues.
